New Jersey’s Top Universities Launch Flooding Prevention Project

New Jersey is home to several outstanding universities, many of which are on a path to leading sustainable causes. From the time that Superstorm Sandy occurred, renowned Universities such as Princeton and Rutgers have made continuous efforts to protect the vulnerable areas of their nearby and respective cities. An initiative currently in process is aimed specifically at controlling the flooding which surfaces in low-lying terrain. An important part of the University project consists of installing rain gardens and rain barrels to block rainwater, an underground stormwater detention basin, as well as extensive wetland restoration. The Students have also designed several other green infrastructure projects. The first is a 50-by-40-foot depression in the ground with 500 plants and 30 shrubs. This is a 2,000 square-foot garden that can handle nearly 15,000 gallons of water. One of the rain gardens was designed to capture and treat stormwater runoff from Memorial Field Park near Tremley Point. The second rain garden, which is approximately 200 feet long and 15 feet wide, will collect runoff from a parking lot and baseball field in Memorial Field Park. This particular garden can capture up to 22,500 gallons of water. Sewer work advisory for Princeton: A Snowden Lane Sewer Project has recently begun and here’s what you can expect when traveling in the area of construction-Snowden Lane, between Barbara Smoyer Park and the stream culvert near the intersection of Overbrook Drive will only be affected in the southbound lane due to a sanitary sewer pipe installation. During the process, Snowden Lane will be closed to through traffic between Herrontown Road and Overbrook Drive. Signs will be visible and work will be conducted during the day, beginning at 7 am. Atlantic City, have you made your plans to attend our Open House? We hope so! It’s in Anaheim, CA and your presence is requested! The Perma-Liner Industries Event will consist of three fun-filled days, chock-full of live demonstrations and information on all of the CIPP technology available. It’s taking place from June 13th-15th. Don’t miss this! Call us to confirm your reservation @ 1-866-336-2568. See you...

Atlantic City’s Sponsored Infrastructure Program

The New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Financing Plan is a revolving loan program administered by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. This investment strategy provides loans to local agencies for the construction of wastewater treatment facilities, sludge management systems for wastewater and water treatment systems, combined sewer overflow reduction and other non-point source management projects. The subsidy also provides loans for the construction of distribution systems, storage facilities, and source development. Funds are made available under the federal Clean Water Act and various state bond acts. Since the approval of the loan program, more than $1.5 billion in state and federal funds have been awarded. Wastewater and storm water projects eligible for infrastructure financial allowances include wastewater treatment plant upgrades or improvements; facilities for the treatment and disposal or beneficial reuse of sewage and water treatment system sludges; collection and conveyance facilities; on-site system rehabilitation; infiltration/inflow correction and combined sewer overflow projects. Also eligible are non-point source management projects such as storm water basins, equipment purchases and streambank stabilization. Atlantic City Utilities Authority: Green Energy Initiative

The Wastewater facility in Atlantic City is not only in charge of the sewer system but has a solar energy project that is part of a green energy initiative.  The Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm which consists of five, 380 ft. turbines with a capacity of producing a combined 7.5 megawatts of power.  That is considered enough energy to power an estimated 2,500 homes.  The power produced is used to operate the wastewater treatment plant. The wind farm is the first in the state and as an eastern, urban, coastal, industrial, onshore, multi-turbine wind farm, it is one that is unique to the world.   In addition to this unique energy saver, The ACUA maintains approximately 20 strategically located pump stations throughout the county. Ultimately, the wastewater from 14 municipalities is either pumped or flows by gravity to these stations. The wastewater is then pumped through large force mains to the regional wastewater treatment facility located on the outskirts of Atlantic City. Incoming wastewater is collected from 14 municipalities using over 60 miles of force main which discharges into the 40 million gallon per day treatment facility. Atlantic City, Perma-liner has some good news!!  We are introducing a zero down, no payments for 90 days on our state of the art 22ft Perma-Main Turn Key Trailer.  We also include training for this trailer system.  This is our Top Gun system that can rehabilitate 6”-10” diameter pipelines.  There are many other points to consider when using this this powerhouse for installation purposes.  A project that is consists of three installations each approximately 500 ft.  can be completed in 3 days versus the 9 day time frame for a conventional dig.  To find out more about this package deal, call us or go online to...

South Monmouth Has Paved Way for Mobile Sewer Design

South Monmouth Has Paved Way for Mobile Sewer Design

There is a new plan that has come into action for residents of South Monmouth and beyond. The aftermath of disastrous storms had the City springing into action, thereby developing a better sewer system to include mobile pump stations. Gathering all their resources and expertise the Sewerage Authority has turned pump stations into transportable units. Engineers of this project have put together a list of recommendations when implementing such a plan. When designing a mobile pump station, the noise level and weight restrictions should be taken into consideration. Also, consider the amount of equipment that is held in the trailer and the appearance. Depending on where the mobile unit is located, most residents prefer it to be congruous with the environment. For instance, if the area is beach or summer-like than the mobile unit should reflect that, so it blends in. It is also important to decide ahead of time how functional the unit must be: how far the pump station will be moved (using the most efficient routing) and how quickly it can be transported. Perma-Liner Industries can help! We’ve developed an innovative process and design for trenchless pipeline rehabilitation. Call us or go online to find out more. Frequent Flooding Prompts Sewer Line Inspection

Frequent Flooding Prompts Sewer Line Inspection

The community of Emerson is undergoing a pipeline survey due to recent flooding problems within the borough. Several sewer lines will be inspected, cleaned and drained. Residents of the neighborhood have voiced their concerns after the heavy rains, which prompted the City to take action. This month, the council approved several locations for survey of the pipelines, including Vivian Ave. and Powell rd. So far, there have been seven areas of the underground infrastructure that have reported issues which have been attributed to probable causes of flooding. The City is using a camera within several hundred feet of pipe. This method has most accurately detected the sections of difficulty. There is a budget put in place for the evaluations, which will also include, analyzing specific sizing and structure of the affected pipeline. Perma-Liner Industries is here to help. We have been specializing in the most advanced trenchless, Cured in Place pipeline technology since 1999. Our products and equipment, including our state of the art Perma-Lateral Lining System, will repair and rehabilitate pipes, bridge missing pipe sections and eliminate roots and infiltration. Call us or go online to www.perma-liner.com to find out how we can help.   Atlantic City, SAVE THE DATE!! Mark your calendars because you won’t want to miss this!
